“Rainier Community Garden is preparing to bring back its garden in full swing after putting it to rest for the winter.

The planting plans and preparations are under way and the garden should be up and running by February.

Located at Rainier High School, the forty beds are planted with seeds for various fruits and vegetables.

Once the fruits and vegetables are fully harvested, they are prepped and taken to the Rainier Food Bank for donation every Tuesday and Thursday.

There is also a 30-tree orchard including cherry, apple, plum, pear and peach that are grown for donation.”

“Rainier Community Garden recently received a $2,500 FFA Food For All Grant to use to help put in a water system that will allow them to plant more vegetables and keep a more sustainable garden.”
